Hi,

I was wondering if you guys are going to patch Firefox like OpenBSD has done so that it doesn't default to DNS over HTTPS?

With the agreement between Mozilla and Cloudflare, I think it's a really good idea not to have this enabled by default, and also to remove any default DNS servers so that the user provides his own.

Kind regards
Neither waterfox or palemoon have trr anywhere found in their about:config

Mozilla is progressively becoming more like google and facebook in many ways. They continuously trying to find ways to monitor what you do and where you connect to, and their sense of security is that you trust them better than the closest of family members, like you mozilla and nsa are together as one, secure against "other" threats. Eventually, between popular site scripting, video codec, and mozilla, those other mozilla projects will either quit, become progressively dysfunctional, or be consumed within the same game.

Some people turn to brave for an alternative, but I think that is futile as well.

I think there is very little time left unused in this project to engage in patching the huge code base of a browser. With such an effort comes responsibility, that users expect the maintainer to protect them in so many ways from any exposure to the web. Even if someone here was willing to undertake this task I would advise against it. That boat called firefox and thunderbird have too many holes for a small team to patch.
I totally second what fungal says. In every aspect. Browsers have become HUGE projects, not like in the old days (which they still were back then...). Making a good choice for your own use case is very difficult if you're rather informed. If you're not, then you just want the one that is the most: fast and safe. Apparently it's not as easy as that. But without really dedicated and invested people on this very topic you just won't have anything to work with. This is not to say it ain't possible, just that it needs really dedicated people with lots of time on their hands and FUNDING for them to still pay their rent and food you know...

I always get blown away by how much impact my original career industry (design/marketing/selling/ads) has on all of us (we all give in to some products/things/emotions/stuff). And even more so how we deny this very fact to not make us appear like we'd be easy to influence. (very human thing to do)
Like if you ask any member of my family they just know that Firefox is the safest browser that has ever existed. Reactions to me trying to have a discussion about why that may not be the case and wanting them show them their own browser settings always turn out to become fierce fights if I'm not directly in front of the computer with them actually really showing them just how much tracking is going on.

For now I'd just say find the best project that fits your needs and share it, make a voice for it and get people involved. We could make a thread about open source internet navigation projects e.g. I don't know. Just a thought and my typical two cents. Have a nice weekend :)
Firefox is not provided by Obarun repositories but come from Arch repositories and we don't have any plan to provide it.
