i have run other non-systemd distro and not seen this before and am at a loss how to resolve it
Obarun is based on arch and take many package (in binary form) from the official arch repositories. And arch use and abuse of systemd.
You can use my PKGBUILD as already say in my other post here.
conky need to be recompiled without systemd support.

Conky is now available on obextra. Tested locally, it should works as expected.
Sync, install and report if something is not working.
The only combination that doesn't break my older conky scripts is:
conky-lua-archers 1.11.3-2 3.53 MiB
lua 5.3.5-3

lua from arch archives repo, the other from aur with systemd removed as well as nvidia/nvctrl which I don't need, pulseaudio off, wifi off, and short ifnames Fortunately I don't have anything else with lua to need the later dependency but every time I tried to re-edit a script to match new formating I run into dead ends.

I don't understand why they did this without providing at least a tool to transform the scripts to new format and thousands of scripts published/shared around the net are all broken because they wanted to "develop". It is not as if all their new codes are shorter than the older ones.
