Hi there!

As a newcomer, I have a couple of question (yes, I know how forum search works but looks like all topics are a bit old).

1. Forums/news/IRC/etc all are in silence. Oburan project dieing?

2. What a differensess in Obarun vs Arch repos? As far as I could tell, no systemd packages at all (or almost at all), and some packages in Obarun repo are older than in Arch (linux-lts as an example). Any other differences?

3. Can i use AUR/ArchRepos in Obarun?

P.S. Sorry for my English.
Welcome, and should I say welcome to a fellow acoustic guitarist?

1 Live and kicking but always catching up to 10001 Arch maintainers
2 Currently obarun repos have
a s6 and 66 related packages (init, service supervision, service management, module management, services and modules scripts)
b pkgs from arch that require the presence/function of systemd or systemd-libs
c other needed software from various sources
d a couple of older lts kernels 4.9 and 5.4 that were dropped in arch for the latest -lts and some old machines like them, or need them. Current arch lts is 5.10 and current plain linux is 5.11, so you can use any.
e pkgs that users have requested to be built as native obarun packages as Arch has dropped them.

3 Yes, you can, sometimes we can help, if it is a reasonable effort .... there are some packages that just can't be built without systemd or requires too much work to substitute all that is needed. Few, but there are some.

Re: PS We rarely have a native English speaker here, as long as we can communicate with what we have we do. :)

If you know of an init/srvc supervision system that is more advanced, light, capable, than s6 please let us know.
If you know of ANY service/module management system that does what 66 can do ..... we are dying to know.
If you know of any such systems that are portable to literally all linux and probably to many other non-linux unix type system, also let us know. (systemd for sure is not as portable)
There are currently people here who also run s6/66 on Void, Alpine, AntiX, and more ... Obarun is for those who prefer pacman.

So I say Obarun has a future, even if development of 66 stopped it would probably take 4-5 years for something better to appear.
There isn't many new topics appearing as everything runs smoothly ... once in a while we have a new user needing help in getting accustomed and configured ..
