Pardon me if I am asking silly questions, but I seem to not be as knowledgeable as many of the people this far down the Linux rabbit-hole.

Does steam require SystemD, elogind or any of the other malicious elements that freedom-loving individuals such as myself loath? I understand that Steam itself is closed-source consumerist nonsense, but I just don't think I can be enough of a zealot to give up my Steam library lol.

I activate the 32bit repositories and install Steam as you would expect, but I get many errors and it gets stuck on "Connecting to Steam Account: [USERNAME]".

Of course, thank you in advance for any help you can provide. Again, sorry if this is a dumb question, I could not find any good information on the subject on the Forum or on a web search.

My output is as such:

steam.sh[6387]: STEAM_RUNTIME is enabled automatically
setup.sh[6460]: Steam runtime environment up-to-date!

My hero! Worked like a charm. Today is a good day. Thank you.

I never had any issues with dbus before (other than what happens when you try to remove it), so that makes me wonder if there is something special about the way Obarun implements dbus. I'm still having a hard time wrapping my head around this system...a lot of fun, though.

Well, dbus implementation on Obarun is different than Arch, but appart that your issue is just the fact that there is nowhere a script that create the machine-id from a fresh installation. I'm going to inform eric about this issue.
Oh well in that case I am glad I had this issue since it will improve Obarun in the long run!

:)

Could you please mark the thread as [closed] or [solved] now your issue is fixed, thx.
