I've been running Obarun Plasma for a few months. Today, after running yay -Syu the Settings stopped opening on Plasma. I rebooted, but the DE never started. Tried it several times. Just a black screen and a mouse pointer.
Go to tty12 or use a live usb to login and check $HOME/.xsession-errors. Most likely, it's caused by qt5* update recently. qt-base in obextra needs to be updated.

How do I do that? I haven't been using linux for very long.
just sync and update
# pacman -Sy qt5-base
this should resolve your issue, if it's not the case, ask again.

I have another problem. Trying your command yielded could not resolve repo.obarun.org error. I looked it up and it was suggested to 66-tree -D boot here. I tried that, but accidentally ran 66-tree -R boot. Now I can't boot the system. Can I fix this?

---------------

I guess we'll leave the previous question for prosperity as I've decided to reinstall. New problem though: the installation breaks during Password Configration (well, it also fails on pgp key import but that's solvable).
After the password for the root user is set, the output is:
passwd: Cannot determine yours user name.
obarun-install: fatal: unable to set up the root password
And it cannot be resolved by simply running obarun-install again, it gets stuck in a loop. Any advice with that?
No need to reinstall, if you disabled boot by accident just make sure that all the boot services are disable by running:

# 66-disable -t boot tty12 All
then enable again by
# 66-enable -C -F -t boot boot@ system (boot@ system can be changed to boot@ whatever-name-u-want)

but if you're determined to reinstall, you may have to chroot.
66 have nothing to do with pacman repositories. i don't get your point here.
Try to install from the start again, meaning reboot.
Maybe it's time to me to remake an ISO, try it and tell us.
I can confirm the same issue, I tried to reboot and repeat the install but it keeps failing when asking for a root password.
ok, i have done a new minimal and JWM ISO. It should be available at the end of the day (saturday for me) or at worth tomorrow. Yeah i have a really slow connection at upload, this the main reason that i don't make ISO every month.
