This is my first time trying anything with s6 init, I'm familiar with Archlinux and currently using Voidlinux. Thoght I'd give s6 a try and found out about Obarun.
Anyway, I downloaded the latest minimal flavour (2022.03.12) and was hoping there would some way around not having an ethernet cable to proceed with install. Didn't find any of the usual wifi tools that you'd find on a basic arch iso. So I'm wondering if any of you kind souls could shed some light on how to go from here..
You have a least the ip, wpa_supplicant, dhcpcd program installed on the ISO. You should get a connection with this basic tool even with a WIFI device if the kernel recognize your network device.
For the rest you can follow the Achlinux wiki about network configuration. The only difference is the way to deal with state of the services.(https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Wpa_supplicant)
I did find wpa_supplicant and wpa_cli. I tried running wpa_cli but I keep getting the error:"Could not connect to wpa_supplicant: wlp12s0 - re-trying" .

Tried two wifi devices, same result. Did this with both users oblive and root, still no connection. I disabled and enabled dhcpcd and wpa_supplicant because that sometimes fixes these types of issues, but still no internet.
Update >> I got internet to work using wpa_passphrase and wpa_supplicant, Installed the system succesfully and now using it to write this.

Question: I'm obviously an s6 noob so I'm struggling to figure out how to get NetworkManager to work. Installed NetworkManger and networkmanger-66serv, tried 66-enable -t root -S networkmanager but it doesn't find anything , did the same with dbus but it gives a parse error. I'm looking everywhere on the internet but the information around 66-tools are scarce so I'm in a stalemate at the moment.
Second Update >> I got networkmanger to work, I was still living in systemd era and was typing "NetworkManager" instead of "networkmanager".

Anyway, I'm sure this might take a minute to get used to, is there any good guide on the internet that's helpful for transitioning from systemd and runit to s6? like I want to understand the fundamentals of s6 and why it's better than the rest. Right now I still have no opinion as I'm just trying things out.

eric wroteif you want to know how the thing work under the hood, you need to check the official s6/s6-rc( https://skarnet.org/software/s6/, https://skarnet.org/software/s6-rc/) documentation (courage). This is the only way as far as i know.
Thanks, I'll check it out for sure. Either way, I'm loving obarun so far, already made it my daily driver. All the toubles I've encountered so far are just because of my ignorance and not the distro. Thank y'all for the work you're putting in.
