(qemu vm install) Help setting path to mount disk for install.

Trying to install the obarun-JWM-2026.04.30-x86_64.iso on a qemu vm with :
$ qemu-system-x86_64 -enable-kvm -m 2048 -nic user,model=virtio -drive file=obarun-storage.qcow2,media=disk,if=virtio -cdrom install-images/obarun-JWM-2026.04.30-x86_64.iso

I booted in live and started the installer. What should i put in '1. Path to the mounted disk for installtion [/mnt] ' ?

chomwitt That means that /mnt is selected as the mounted path. Just make sure you have mounted the partition you want the installer to write to on /mnt.

If in the stage (screenshot) i dont change the default and proceed with install i'll get:
Your install dir /mnt is not a valid mountpoint . Please partition and mound first your devices into it.

So i formatted and partitioned first my /dev/vda and then it proceeds so far good.

Installation finished. After many efforts to find the correct partitions sizes :-) .
Anyway . The last message says : You can reboot with '66 reboot' . But trying to i get: 66-shutdown fatal unable to shutdown.Operation not permitted.

There is an issue with disk preparation step :

I set up a 20G qcow2 storage.
In partition manager menu i choose : 1 Assisted preparation.
Then i select disk to use : /dev/vda

Then if in the Partition Auto Menu i unselect boot (root?) and home and keep only swap

then i select 2GB for swap and i assume that 18 would be for both system and home.
Alas at some point installation stops due to not enough storage space.

Thinking it over.. I think the root partition is not presented because is assumed. So in that case root partition was created at 18G and not home ?

In a new effort with split home root partition unfortunately installation stopped from failling to retrieve a package. obarun-install said : info cleaning up. Is there a way to resume ?

That issue was solved with choosing a suitable mirror.

I finished the installation another time. Now when i try to boot i get:
scandir fatal; unable to read system version file : /var/lib/66/system/.version
Enter root for maintance.

It should be simplier.

Start a VM booting from the ISO.

open a terminal or from console (depending if you use the JWM flavour or the minimal ISO version) and tape sudo obarun-install. The use of sudo is mandatory, so do not launch obarun-install from root but from the regular user oblive with sudo.
Update the obarun-install and obarun-install-themes package when the script ask for it
When you get the Main Menu:
- choose the Desktop environment that you want (minimal or jwm)(step 3)
- choose the bootloader that you want(syslinux or grub)(step 5)
- pick Disk(s) preparation:
  pick the first entry(Assisted preparation) then select the disk to use, remove with the bare space the boot and home entry keeping the swap entry(if you really need it, if you just want to test you can deselect it too). Then select the size of the swap. Finally select the filesystem that you want, typically ext4. Ask yes to format the disk when the script ask it.

Now select the install field and it should install the system properly. You don't need to do anything else. At the end to reboot tape reboot or sudo 66 reboot.
