It is my experience that every non systemd init distro that i have tried fails to work for everything that i use it for at some point. And no matter how i struggle to do it. I just cant get systemd's talons out of my computer and have everything work like i need it to. I think it may just be time to concede defeat on linux and maybe try bsd.

I've never downloaded or tried steam anywhere

there is lib32-libpulse-nosystemd- on aur

that should be in easy addition to obmultilib

So i'm guessing some of those install dependencies require systemd as systemd is polluting the list

lib32-libpulse-nosystemd-git is installed

i guess i try each dependency above one at a time to see which is leaning on systemd and look in the aur for a nosystemd version?

TY also very much
so after trying to install the above fgroup en masse, skipping over systemd junk it comes down to this:

Package conflicts found:
-> Installing systemd will remove: eudev (udev)
-> Conflicting packages will have to be confirmed manually

lib32-v4l-utils is required and is in the official repo somewheres because it is not building but installing AND is asking for systemd

lib32-v4l-utils

in that hugeish list of files to install above, lib32-v4l-utils is in a repo and not in the aur so i'm not sure how to work around it's dependency on systemd. you have a good idea? it seems to be the only thing requiring systemd in order to fully install the lib32-ffmpeg-steam program you recommended from the aur.

i await your reply.
I'm sorry that I'm unable to come to the message board forums right now as I am bust playing ESO. Please leave a message after the tone. message lz1. BEEP!

TY! either in stalling all those dependencies or with the update it is now working. I am in eso playing.

So, what exactly did you have installed to fix the issue? I could rebuild the needed packages without systemd and made them available on Obarun repository.

the ones above i think i installed them all. the ones below i could not install

lib32-ffmpeg-compat-57-1:3.4.2-2 lib32-ffmpeg-steam-0.1.0-2 these two requite the one below

this one in particular is in the repos but requires systemd and is not in the aur: lib32-v4l-utils-1.20.0-1

i think thats all of them aside from lib32-libpulse-nosystemd which i think you added previously
It's wonderful how well my game plays without that systemd slopware

Thx LizziAS for the list. As soon as I can find a little time I will do it.
