System fail to boot after 0.8.0.0 update
Can please you chroot your system and give us the output of:
# 66 tree resolve Master
# 66 tree status -g
% 66 tree resolve Master
% 66 tree status -g
- Edited
eric
Eric, this is from new install, which has obviously the same behavior(problem) as main system ... if of interest, I'll update main system to 0.8.0.0 and do the same.

I dont expect this to work, but could you have 66 remount your run directory by adding to66 boot
of /bin/init
to 66 boot -m
? Maybe worth a shot.
My machine also failed to boot after the update. I could not determine exactly what was causing the issue, only that after upgrading and running the migration process the boot tree would not be brought up completely.
Debugging the live system was not possible because things like /dev/pts were not being mounted and sudo refused to work because of this (I have root logins disabled). I started by removing my custom services (which the new version was not happy with) but in the end I had to rebuild all the trees again from zero because there was some sort of inconsistency I could not fully understand.
I posted a new thread in this section a few minutes ago with the outline of what was needed to recover my machine, for those who want to try one last thing before going for a reinstall.
dvam The new clean install, using the latest ISO, is not an option at my machine, because that gives non bootable, completely unresponsive system, although is successfully installed.
Take a look at the instructions we have on the other thread. On a fresh install that's not even booting correctly there's not a lot to lose by trying the "delete and rebuild every tree" approach.
my first answer was wrong. I read your post a little to quick.
dvam system-sysctl: info: apply sysctl configuration file
your boot seems to hang at system-sysctl which is responsible to launch the sysctl -p
command. To confirm that you can try the following
# 66 configure -r 'SYSCTL=!no' boot@system
# 66 reconfigure boot@system
and try to reboot. it will skip the configuration of the kernel.

Now hangs at: boot: info: Starts boot logger at: /run/66/log/0
[Starts`` stage1 process...]
boot: info: Create live scandir at: /run/66
scandir: info: Create scandir /run/66/scandir/0 ...
boot: info: Initiate erlier service of tree: boot
tree: info: Initialized successfully: boot@system:tty-earlier@tty12
boot: info: Starts boot logger at: /run/66/log/0

eric Did you come from the 0.7.2.1 release? if not, it can explain your trouble.
My main system comes from 0.7.2.1 release, but the same problem appears after clean install.
By the way, I have just sent you requested directories from my main system ( 0.8.0.0 ) that hangs while booting ... inside you will find 0.7.2.1 snapshots , when it boots normally.

After research and help from other users at Obarun channel, the trouble seems to come from machine booting with UEFI mode. This is also your cases?
Can you confirm that you're able to boot in legacy mode?
Thanks for your confirmation. I don't know what happen exactly for now but i'm on it.
just synchronize and update to the latest version 0.8.0.1. It should work now
